The reason that you cannot divide by 0 is shown in the following examples:  To check your answer you multiply and if the answer is the same as what is under the division sign, then you are correct. Now let us try to check the next example in the same way, would zero work for an answer?

 Let’s try it: now check your answer like we did on the previous example, so we multiply 0, which equals 0, not 5, so let’s try 5 as an answer:  0

check it by multiplying which equals 0, not 5. Therefore, neither logical possibility will actually work, leading to the conclusion that one cannot divide by 0.

  • Sounds like another good mnteal exercise! Those who say they don’t enjoy math are often those who have a hard time connecting the math they learn in school with the practical applications of math in real life. Being able to recognize sequences, patterns and relationships in our everyday interactions is how we make math real , and more fun! Math is everywhere, and you don’t need to look to hard to find it!
